How it started
Poop Happens began with a leap of faith and a whole lot of love—for my kids, for dogs, and for creating a life that works. When I lost my work-from-home job in web design, I was suddenly a single mom with no family nearby, two amazing kids depending on me, and no clear path forward. I needed a way to keep being present for my two amazing kids—my teenage daughter with a full social calendar and my preteen son with autism and needs the kind of support only a mom can give—while still providing for them. I couldn’t settle for a job that took me away from them—I needed something that allowed me to show up as both a present parent and a reliable provider.
When I came across the idea of a dog poop scooping business, it sounded a little crazy… but also kind of perfect. I’ve always been a huge dog lover. (shoutout to my goldendoodle Mabel!) Starting Poop Happens gave me a chance to build something meaningful, flexible, and real.
